Who Requires a PSARA License?

Any individual or organization planning to start or operate a private security agency in India must obtain a PSARA License before commencing business. As per the Private Security Agencies Regulation Act, 2005, it is a legal requirement to ensure that security services are provided in a professional and regulated manner.

You will need a PSARA License if you are:

  • Establishing a private security agency offering guards, supervisors, or armed/unarmed security personnel.

  • A company or firm providing security services to industries, businesses, or residential societies.

  • An organization that wants to outsource security services to clients.

  • An entrepreneur looking to enter the private security industry with government approval.

Without a valid PSARA License, running a private security agency is illegal and punishable under law.

Documents Required for PSARA License

To obtain a PSARA License under the Private Security Agencies Regulation Act, applicants must provide the following documents:

  • Certificate of Incorporation / Registration of the company, firm, or proprietorship.

  • MOA & AOA / Partnership Deed, depending on the business structure.

  • PAN Card of the business entity and tax registration details (GST, if applicable).

  • Identity & Address Proof of directors/partners/proprietor (Aadhaar, Voter ID, Passport, etc.).

  • Police Verification Report for all directors/partners involved in the agency.

  • Registered Office Address Proof (Rent Agreement, Utility Bill, or Ownership Papers).

  • Shop & Establishment License / Labour License (where required).

  • Employee Welfare Documents – ESI, EPF registration details.
